Equitable Searches

CSUSB is committed to the recruitment, hiring and retention of a diverse workforce because we believe it is essential to the university’s pursuit of continued excellence and keeping true to our core mission and values. Such a commitment is demonstrated in our strategic plan and our goals for the recruitment, retention and development of a diverse body of staff, faculty, and administrators.

In support of this goal, the Division of Human Resources requires educational sessions on equitable and inclusive searches for all search committee members and chairs. Individuals serving on a search committee will have to attend a session once every two years.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why participate in this program?

Since our inception in 1965, CSUSB has made remarkable strides in admitting, retaining, and graduating a student body that is becoming increasingly diverse. As a Hispanic Serving Institution, we take pride in our Minority Serving Institution status and are dedicated to enhancing the representation and achievements of other underrepresented groups in our student community. But diversity transcends beyond the student body. Search committee diversity education provides an overview of best practices for hiring an excellent group of diverse and inclusive faculty, staff and administrators. We consistently seek out opportunities to bolster diversity and inclusivity across all facets of our institution.

How often do individuals need to complete this training?

Anyone serving on a search committee is required to  complete this training at least every two years. This applies to all MPP and staff searches.
