COVID-19 operations information for the CSUSB Palm Desert Campus

General PDC Access Guidelines

Per CSUSB policy, nose/mouth covering must be worn at all times by everyone when at PDC, including the i-Hub building.

Palm Desert campus hours are 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

In accordance with current CSUSB COVID-19 guidelines, entry to PDC remains restricted and is granted only to scheduled essential personnel and, on a case by case basis, to others needing brief access to the campus for legitimate purposes (i.e., Den pick up, check pick up, approved contractor work, etc.). Campus Security (CSS) will maintain a log tracking all individuals on campus. To coordinate campus access, contact Jack Macfarlane, Director of Campus Operations (unscheduled visitors will not be granted access to any PDC buildings). Keep in mind that all PDC buildings are to remain locked at all times. Never prop doors open for any reason. Call the Security front desk upon arrival at 909-537-8131 for entry. If no answer, call UPD at 909-537-7777 to radio Security and open the appropriate building and room. Please notify Security when leaving campus.

Remote Staff Member Access

First obtain permission from your supervisor as stated in CSUSB COVID-19 Health and Safety Requirements for Staff and Management and then contact Jack Macfarlane to arrange for access. Working from campus for “convenience” is not authorized. If having equipment or software issues at home please open a ticket or contact IT.

Faculty Access

Faculty must obtain permission from their chair before coming to PDC to pick up material, mail, etc. After permission is obtained, contact Jack Macfarlane to arrange access.

The San Bernardino campus is the preferred option for video recording lectures as rooms are already set up for this purpose and disinfecting protocol is in place. To arrange visit contact James Trotter. If PDC is the only option for recording lectures, then a COVID-19 Daily Health Screen must be completed. Consistent with CSUSB policy, only one faculty member is allowed on campus at a time for video recording. Contact Jack Macfarlane to arrange for access and classroom disinfection after use. If you have any questions or need anything, please contact Anissa Rogers or Johanna Martinez in the PDC Associate Dean's Office.

Contractor Access

Contractors must have a Safety Plan on file before any work takes place at PDC. Safety Plans are submitted to Facilities Management before contracts are awarded. If unsure if a Safety Plan is on file, contact Facilities Management. Prior to contractor arrival, email Jack Macfarlane to arrange for parking, building access, and disinfection of job site.
