Templates

Graduate Studies’ Microsoft Word templates are formatted to follow the university’s formatting guidelines for a thesis, project or dissertation. Simply update the pages with your own information. The font, margins, line spacing, etc. are already set up for you.

Templates for Mathematics theses are available through the Mathematics department.

Note: You must have Microsoft Word installed to use these templates. CSUSB students can download Microsoft 365 from Information Technology Services.

Individual Page Templates

The title and committee pages may vary slightly by discipline. Please check with your program for details or see the examples at the bottom of this page.

Full Manuscript Template

This template covers the entire document: it can be used to format most theses, projects and dissertations. Most of the required formatting (title page, committee page, margins, etc.) is built into the template; the body text, chapter titles, and headings are applied using the Styles function in Word. However, the template is not foolproof. You should learn how to use Styles and familiarize yourself with the university’s format.  Keep in mind that you will need to format some aspects of your paper yourself.

Before you begin, please read the template instructions carefully. If you need assistance, please call our office at (909) 537-5058 or email gradstud@csusb.edu to schedule a consultation.
