Delia García Vallejo

Delia recently completed her master’s exams, distinguishing herself through her intellectual rigor, strong work ethic, and deep commitment to academic excellence. She consistently demonstrated advanced analytical skills, exceptional written and oral communication in Spanish, and a thoughtful engagement with complex theoretical and cultural issues. Her contributions to class discussions and academic projects reflected both scholarly maturity and a genuine passion for language, literature, and education.

In addition to her academic achievements, Delia participates in the Department academic and cultural activities and those at the university as well. She was part of Los amigos Spanish club a student-led organization dedicated to advocacy, leadership, and community engagement. In this role, she exhibited exceptional leadership skills, and a strong sense of responsibility to her peers and the broader campus community. [- Dr. Bibiana Díaz]

Outstanding Undergraduate Student in Arabic - Roshan Abbassi

Roshan Abbasi is an Arabic major with a minor in Cybersecurity. He stands out as an exceptional student whose commitment to the language is both impressive and inspiring. He graduates with a strong command of Modern Standard Arabic and a well-rounded understanding of its regional varieties. Having already spent several years teaching Arabic, he plans to continue sharing his knowledge while deepening his own learning as a lifelong student.

Roshan is especially drawn to the beauty of Arabic, with its distinct sounds, phonology, and structure. He is fascinated by how the language is both complex and yet accessible, particularly after mastering the root system. He is inspired by classical texts such as the Qur’an, prophetic traditions, and Arabic poetry. He thoughtfully describes his journey with the language as “an ocean” at whose shore he still stands.

Roshan is an advanced and detail-oriented learner. He demonstrates exceptional care in both his speaking and writing, with pronunciation that approaches native-like fluency. For one of his class projects, he memorized more than thirty verses of an eighteenth-century Arabic poem, reflecting his remarkable dedication and passion. It has been a true pleasure to have him in the Arabic BA program. [-Dr. Oraib Mango]
