Blended B.A. and M.A. in Spanish

Coyote Accelerated Post-Baccalaureate Education
The Coyote Accelerated Post-Baccalaureate Education (CAPE) Program allows students to count 12 units of their Bachelor’s degree towards a Master’s degree.

Who is Eligible

The CAPE/Blended B.A. and M.A. in Spanish is available to Spanish B.A. students who meet the following qualifications:

  1. Have declared the Spanish: Hispanic Language, Literature, and Civilization (SLLC) concentration;
  2. Have completed 60 semester units (and have applied to the program before the completion of 90-105 semester units);
  3. Have completed at least three courses from the SLLC concentration with a GPA of 3.0 or higher across all three courses;
  4. Have an overall CSUSB GPA of 3.0 or higher or an average GPA of 3.0 in undergraduate coursework in Spanish. Students who have a lower GPA than 3.0 may still apply and will be evaluated based on the strength of their other supporting materials.

How to Apply

Students must complete the WLL CAPE Spanish Application form during their junior year to begin the program.

After Acceptance

Once accepted into the program, the advisor will submit the CAPE Blended Program Undergraduate Entry Form.

Students should be aware that after 120 applicable units, the switch to “graduate” status means their graduate tuition/fees and financial aid eligibility will be based on graduate student status.

Students who are accepted into the CAPE/Blended Spanish B.A./M.A. program shall be designated as CAPE undergraduates until the BA is conferred. Then they will move to CAPE graduate status.

Required Spanish Courses

Students who are accepted into the program must take the following courses in their final two semesters. 
These courses will be double-counted for the B.A./M.A.:
 
   Fall Semester                     
  • SPAN 5501 or SPAN 5503 or SPAN 6606
  • SPAN 5505 or 5507
 
   Spring Semester
  • SPAN 5505 or 5507 or SPAN 6615
  • SPAN 5501 or SPAN 5503
 
*All 5000-level courses must have different topics to be repeatable for credit.
