Adult First Aid & CPR/AED Certification Course: American Red Cross

The Department of Recreation & Wellness offers American Red Cross First Aid & CPR/AED Courses

Learn the skills in accordance to the American Red Cross that can save someone’s life in only one day. The classroom learning will give all participants hands on training that will prepare them for a variety of cardiac, breathing, and first aid emergencies. Participants will learn how to recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing, and first aid emergencies.

Classes are offered every first Friday of every month, can also be scheduled upon 2 weeks of advanced request and require a minimum class size of 4 participants. Maximum class capacity is 12 participants and no prerequisites are required. All certifications are valid for 2 years from the date of your course completion.

Lifeguard Certification Course: American Red Cross

The Department of Recreation & Wellness offers American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification Courses
Blended Lifeguard Course consist of an online learning and instructor-led sessions for in-class/in-water training. The online portion will teach knowledge objectives and the majority of video content. It is scenario based and includes guided discovery through activities.  Online portion has a link which will be in conformation email after signing up. (MUST BE COMPLETED BY THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS)
The purpose of the American Red Cross Lifeguarding course is to provide entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to Aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over.

*Must pass Pre-Course Swim & complete online portion to take course

  • Towels 
  • State ID 
  • CPR mask (Can purchase CPR mask for $15 dollars at the SRWC front desk)
  • Swim suit
  • Paper & pens (for notes)
  • Certification of completion for online portion of class

Basic Life Support Certification Course: ARC

The Department of Recreation & Wellness offers American Red Cross Basic Life Support Courses
Learn the skills in accordance to the American Red Cross that can save someone’s life. This course is a scenario-based approach to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills that helps people who are in life-threating medical conditions until receiving more advanced treatment. Certification is consistent with AHA Guidelines for CPR/ECC, and covers breathing and cardiac emergencies - including CPR, AED, and obstructed airway - for adult, child, and infant patients.
