Are there any prerequisites for admission to the Post-Graduate Certificate in National Cybersecurity Studies at CSUSB?

Yes, applicants must:

  • Hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Achieve a minimum GPA of 2.5 on the last degree completed or in the last 60 semester (90 quarter) units attempted.
Can I apply if my undergraduate degree isn't relevant to the certificate?

Yes. Applicants from any academic background are welcome to apply as long as they hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a minimum GPA of 2.5. While prior experience in cybersecurity, political science, or related fields can be helpful, it is not required. The program is designed to provide both foundational and applied knowledge for students from diverse disciplines.

What is the required GPA?

Is there a GRE or GMAT requirement?

The program does not require GRE or GMAT scores for admission.

Can I apply if I have an international degree?

Yes, you can apply with an international degree. CSUSB accepts bachelor’s degrees from accredited institutions outside the U.S., but there are a few extra steps for international applicants:

Degree Evaluation

  • Your international degree must be equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree.
  • CSUSB may require a credential evaluation from a recognized service (like WES or ECE) to verify equivalency.

  • You’ll need to submit official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions attended.
Is OPT provided in the program? 

Yes — students in the Post‑Graduate Certificate in National Cybersecurity Studies at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) are eligible to apply for the federal Optional Practical Training (OPT) program and work in the U.S. for up to 12 months after completing the certificate.

Graduates are prepared for roles in government, defense, intelligence, and private-sector organizations focused on national and international cybersecurity policy, threat analysis, and security strategy. The certificate also serves as a pathway to CSUSB’s Master of Science in National Cybersecurity Studies (MSNCSS).
