Returning & Readmitted Students

Returning to CSUSB

Welcome back! If you previously attended CSUSB and would like to return, start by reviewing the university's requirements for returning students.

Complete the required readmission steps with International Admissions. After you are readmitted, International Admissions will provide instructions about the Form I-20 process for your return to CSUSB.

Returning Student Admission Information

Your F-1 Record May Need Review

Returning to CSUSB after an absence may affect your SEVIS record and Form I-20. The appropriate immigration process depends on your individual circumstances, including the status of your previous SEVIS record and the circumstances of your absence.

Academic readmission to CSUSB does not automatically reactivate a previous SEVIS record or Form I-20. Your immigration record must be reviewed to determine the appropriate Form I-20 process for your return.

After You Are Readmitted

Once you are readmitted to CSUSB, follow the instructions provided by International Admissions. International Admissions will issue the appropriate Form I-20 for your return based on your circumstances and immigration record.

Do not make travel plans based only on a previous Form I-20 or SEVIS record. Wait until you have received instructions and the appropriate immigration documentation for your return.
