International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) works with CSUSB colleges, departments, and eligible tenure-track faculty on university-sponsored immigration processes connected to faculty employment.
Use this page to learn about employment-based immigration pathways, understand when ISSS should be contacted, and find the appropriate guidance or request process.
University Sponsorship and Individual Guidance
Employment-based immigration sponsorship is an institutional process. Availability of a particular pathway depends on both immigration requirements and CSUSB’s applicable sponsorship procedures.
ISSS provides guidance regarding university-sponsored immigration processes connected to CSUSB employment. ISSS does not provide personal legal representation or private immigration legal advice. Faculty members may consult an immigration attorney regarding personal or family immigration matters.
Departments seeking procedural guidance should also review the applicable information under Campus Departments.

How to Begin
The hiring department should contact ISSS as early as possible to discuss the proposed appointment and potential immigration sponsorship needs.
If an immigration request is appropriate, ISSS will initiate the request in the Coyote International Portal and provide instructions to the applicable faculty member and department contacts.
Faculty members and departments should not attempt to initiate a tenure-track faculty immigration request directly through the portal.
