Public Health - Fees and Refund Policy

Course Cycles and Fees

The Post-Graduate Certificate (PGC) Program in Public Health (PH) is offered in a cohort system and provides students with two flexible learning modalities: HyFlex (Hybrid-Flexible) and Fully Online. The program consists of four 4-semester-unit courses completed over two semesters (9 months). The four courses are offered consecutively during the Fall and Spring semesters, with students taking two courses each semester as they progress through the program together as a cohort.

Students enrolled in the HyFlex modality have the flexibility to attend classes face-to-face on campus while also benefiting from online learning options when needed. This modality is ideal for students who value in-person interaction with faculty and peers, access to campus resources, and the traditional university experience. Because HyFlex students have access to campus facilities and services, they are required to pay applicable campus-based fees.

Students enrolled in the Fully Online modality complete their coursework asynchronously online, accessing lectures, course materials, assignments, and learning activities on their own schedule while meeting established deadlines. This option is designed for students who require maximum flexibility due to professional, geographic, or personal commitments. Because fully online students do not utilize campus facilities and services, they are not required to pay campus-based fees.

By offering both HyFlex and Fully Online options, the program allows students to choose the learning experience that best aligns with their educational goals, schedule, and lifestyle while maintaining the rigor and quality of a graduate-level cybersecurity education.

Drop and Fee Refund Policies

If you need to drop a course, contact your Program Advisor by email. The date on your email will be the date of your request. The Program Advisor will process a course change on your behalf. Faculty cannot drop you from courses.

A course dropped on or before the census date will not remain on your academic record. A course dropped after census requires instructor and Department Chair approval and will be recorded on your record with the appropriate grade. See the CSUSB Office of the Registrar webpage for grade details. Contact us at any time if you have questions.

The Post-Graduate Certificate in Public Health Program follows the CEGE tuition refund policy, which differs from the campus policy.

  • 100% refund, less $25 administrative fee, if course drop is requested before state date
  • 65% refund, less $25 administrative fee, if course drop is requested on the first day of class through census date
  • No refund after the census date

Payments are due seven days before the first day of class. Late payments are subject to a $25 late fee.
