Building Pathways to College Success with EOP
At Cal State San Bernardino, we believe every student deserves the chance to thrive. The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) opens doors to higher education for students who may be the first in their family to attend college, come from low-income backgrounds, or have faced other challenges on their journey. Through EOP, you’ll find the support, encouragement, and resources you need to succeed as a Coyote—from admissions guidance and academic advising to tutoring, counseling, financial assistance, and even preparation for graduate school.
Are You Eligible for EOP?
Each fall, EOP at CSUSB welcomes first-time freshmen and transfer students who:
- Meet specific academic requirements
- Meet income guidelines
- Demonstrate a need for academic assistance and support
- Demonstrate academic potential and motivation to succeed
- Are a California resident or qualify for a California Nonresident Tuition Exemption
CSUSB also offers the EOP Renaissance Scholars Program, designed to support current and former foster youth with dedicated resources and community.

How to Apply to EOP
Getting started with CSUSB’s Educational Opportunity Program is simple. First, complete your Cal State Apply application and select that you’re interested in EOP. Then, fill out the separate EOP application by the priority deadline. Be sure to gather your recommendation forms, transcripts, and submit your financial aid application—either the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form or the California Dream Act Application (CADAA).
A few things to keep in mind:
- EOP admission decisions are made only at the time you’re admitted to the CSU—it’s not open to students who are already enrolled at CSUSB.
- If you forgot to indicate your interest in EOP on your Cal State Apply application, don’t worry—you can go back and update it.
