Your Next Steps – Graduate Students

Now that you’ve been admitted, here are the key steps every graduate student needs to complete to get started at CSUSB. Let’s get you ready for your first day at CSUSB! financial aid info—so let’s get it set up!

Step 1: Activate myCoyote Account 

Your myCoyote account gives you access to everything from your class schedule to financial aid info—so let’s get it set up! 

  1. Click on the Account Activation tile 
  1. Enter the info you used on your application: 
     • Coyote ID# (you’ll find this in your application acknowledgment email) 
     • Preferred First & Last Name (use what’s on your passport; if a name is blank, type a period “.”) 
     • Date of Birth in this format: mm/dd/yyyy

Step 2: Accept Admission Offer 

Lock in your spot at CSUSB—it’s quick, easy and free! 
Students can accept or decline their offer inside their myCoyote account

Steps to accept your offer: 

  • Log in to your myCoyote account. 
  • Select the 'More' drop-down under the 'Accept or Decline Admissions' Action Item. 
  • Choose the 'Accept/Decline Admissions' option to make it official. 
Step 3: Submit Final Documents

If you were admitted while finishing your bachelor’s degree, don’t forget—you must officially earn your degree before starting your graduate program at CSUSB.  

Be sure to submit final documents – like your official transcript – to the Office of Graduate Studies to avoid any registration or financial holds. 

For transcripts to be official, they must be sent directly from your school, if electronic, or arrive in a sealed envelope, if mailed.

Step 4: Set Up Duo Multi-Factor Authentication 

To keep your account secure, CSUSB uses Duo, a two-step login system that requires both your password and a trusted device—usually your mobile phone or tablet. This extra layer of protection helps prevent unauthorized access, even if your password is compromised.

Step 5: Attend Orientation 

Orientation is your official welcome to CSUSB—and it’s required for all newly admitted and returning students. It’s where you’ll meet fellow Coyotes, explore campus resources, and get ready for life at CSUSB.
