A Warm Coyote Welcome to Those Who Serve & Have Served
CSUSB is proud to provide educational opportunities for veterans of the military services and their dependents. The Office of Outreach and Student Recruitment in partnership with the entire campus community, is here to support you through your journey to becoming a Coyote and beyond. Admissions Counselor and Veterans Liaison Ana Carrejo is also available to answer your questions.
We thank you for your service and look forward to welcoming you to campus!
Admissions Requirements & Credit for Military Service
You or your dependent can join CSUSB as a first-year student (enrolling soon after your high-school graduation) or as a transfer student with prior college experience.
Credit for Military Service
As part of your service, you may be eligible for credit that will transfer to CSUSB, helping you to earn your degree faster. You can submit your DD 214/Separation Documents when applying to the CSUSB through Cal State Apply when you complete and submit your application. (You can apply for a copy of your DD 214 at the National Archives.) If you did not include your DD-214 in your CSUSB application, a copy of the document can be electronically or physically delivered to campus. Veterans are also encouraged to submit their Joint Services Transcript (JST) to the Office of Admission and Student Recruitment for course credit evaluation.

Paying for College: Education Benefits for Veterans

Service members, veterans, reservists, National Guard members and their dependents may be eligible for a variety of educational benefits. Depending on which program(s) you’re eligible for, benefits can cover some or all of the cost of tuition, living expenses and more. You’ll find more information at the link below, at our Veterans Success Centers, and at the California State University system’s Troops to College site.
Veterans Success Centers (VSC)
CSUSB’s Veterans Success Centers on the San Bernardino and the Palm Desert campuses demonstrate our commitment to being one of the nation’s top military-friendly schools. Each center supports former, current and future service members and their dependents as they navigate their academic experience and transition from college to career. You can also tap into virtual assistance and links to a range of resources through Military/Veterans Corner.
