Returning Students

Welcome Back, Coyote!

We understand that sometimes life takes you in a different direction and you may need to pause your college journey. No matter where you left off, CSUSB is here to help you return and move forward toward your degree. Below are five steps to guide you through the process of re-enrolling and continuing your path as a Coyote. It's never too late to finish what you started!

5 Steps for Returning Students

Step 1: Complete the “Welcome Back” Form, or Apply Through Cal State Apply.

The “Welcome Back” form is a simplified application designed to make re-enrolling quick and easy for returning students like you. If you’d rather, you can also submit a new application through Cal State Apply—just be sure to select the “returning student” option when completing your application. Either option can get you back on track toward finishing your degree.

Step 2: Activate Your myCoyote Account and Accept Your Admission

We’re excited to welcome you back to the Pack! Once you’ve been admitted, log in to your myCoyote student portal and click “Accept” to confirm your admission—there’s no cost to accept, and it lets us know you’re ready to return to CSUSB.

As part of this process, you’ll also set up the DUO Mobile app, which provides two-factor authentication to keep your myCoyote account and personal information secure. All CSUSB students are required to use DUO.

Tip: Download and install DUO ahead of time so your account setup is quick and easy.

Note: If your GPA is below the required minimum when returning to CSUSB, you’ll need to meet with an academic advisor to create a success plan. Get started by calling the ASUA Academic Advising Office at (909) 537-7345 or by clicking the button below to schedule an appointment. Once we receive confirmation that you’ve met with an advisor, you’ll be able to continue with the re-admission process.

Step 3: Learn About Financial Aid and Scholarships

Paying for college can feel overwhelming, but you have options. Financial aid at CSUSB comes in many forms—including federal aid, grants, scholarships, and work-study opportunities. Be sure to explore what’s available and complete either the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California Dream Act Application (CADAA) to get started.

Note: When you log in to your myCoyote portal, check for any holds on your account. If you see a hold, contact the listed office right away to learn how to clear it so you can stay on track with the re-enrollment process.

Step 4: Submit Transcripts (If Applicable)

If you’ve taken classes at another college or university since leaving CSUSB, you’ll need to submit your official transcripts.

Official physical transcripts should be mailed to:

Office of Admissions Operations & Systems
5500 University Parkway, UH 107
San Bernardino, CA 92407

Step 5: Attend Orientation and Register for Classes.

You’re almost there! Once your “Welcome Back” form or Cal State Apply application is approved, you’ll be invited to a Returning Student Orientation—offered both in person and online. Orientation is your chance to reconnect with CSUSB, explore helpful resources, and feel confident about your return.

After orientation, you’ll meet with an academic advisor and register for your classes—all in the same day, so you leave ready to start your next chapter as a Coyote.
