Non-degree Programs

Earn College Credit Without Earning a Degree

If you’re interested in taking college courses for college credit but don’t necessarily want to complete a degree, CSUSB has a variety of options. You will be a “non-degree” or “non-matriculated” student and regular admission requirements and application deadlines won’t apply to the programs listed below. Learn more about these programs, including what’s required for admission and how to apply.

Career and Technical Education

Appropriate work experience and a high school diploma or the equivalent are required for admission to the Designated Subjects Teaching Credential Program. You should have at least five years of verifiable work experience in the vocation, skill or trade you’ll be teaching. You can find more information on the Career & Technical Education website.

College of Extended and Global Education

This College helps learners of all ages and backgrounds achieve their continuing education goals by providing access to degrees, certificate programs, professional development and personal enrichment programs at both the San Bernardino and Palm Desert campuses.

The College of Extended and Global Education also offers the Online High School program through the Office of Professional and Continuing Education. High school students can complete courses in English, math, science, a foreign language or social science, and Advanced Placement courses are also offered.

Most courses listed in the CSUSB catalog are open to non-matriculated students through the College of Extended and Global Education under the Open University program. If you’re part of the community and meet the prerequisites, you can enroll in regular campus undergraduate-level courses on a space available and instructor-approved basis without going through formal admission to CSUSB. CSU IntraSystem

If you’re a student in good academic standing at a CSU campus, you can enroll at another CSU campus through the CSU IntraSystem. Students can choose to attend two campuses at the same time (what’s called concurrent enrollment) or enroll as a Visitor, in which you’re enrolled only at the visitor campus.
