Sample Courses

General Chemistry I

Systematic study of fundamental chemical and physical principles and their application to the properties of matter, including atomic structure, molecular structure and bonding, periodic trends in the properties of the elements, gas laws, solution properties, and quantitative relationships involving chemical reactions.

Introduction to Physics I

First course of a year long sequence surveying the basic concepts of physics, primarily for natural science students.

Quantitative Analysis

Volumetric, stoichiometric, and equilibrium calculations of acid-base, oxidation-reduction, complexation, and solubility systems. Laboratory measurements, data and error analysis. Introduction to spectrometric, electrochemical, and chromatographic methods.

David Murillo, student in the College of Natural Sciences
David Murillo, who is majoring in chemistry with a minor in physics, was awarded a Goldwater Scholarship, one of the oldest and most prestigious national scholarships in the United States for natural sciences, engineering and mathematics. He was one of 413 Goldwater Scholars named for 2023.
