A student may petition to receive course credit by examination with the department concerned before the first day of classes of the term in which the course is offered. The student must complete the examination within the first two weeks of the term. The student must be currently enrolled in courses other than the one(s) to be challenged. No fee is charged for these examinations.
A student who passes an examination is given the grade CBE for that course. This symbol indicates that a student has successfully passed a course through examination. It is not included in the calculation of grade point averages. No official record is made of failures in these examinations.
Exact times and places of the examination are announced by the departments. Students who wish to take an examination should consult with the department office well in advance.
