About Natural Science at CSUSB

The Bachelor of Science in Natural Science gives you a broad foundation in the sciences while letting you focus on what excites you most. You’ll begin with core courses in biology and physical science, along with hands-on lab work and science electives. From there, you can choose a concentration in biology, physics, chemistry, or science and society.

This program is designed for students who want a strong, flexible background in science. If your goal is to pursue graduate study in a specific field, we recommend choosing the B.S. degree in that discipline. But if you’re looking for a degree that connects different areas of science and opens doors to a variety of careers, natural science may be the right fit.

Careers in Natural Science

Natural Sciences student

With a B.S. in Natural Science, you’ll be prepared for a wide range of career paths in science, education, and the environment. Depending on your interests—and with additional training or advanced study for some fields—you could pursue roles such as:

  • Biological technician or lab technician
  • Life scientist or natural sciences manager
  • Ecologist, ranger, or park administrator
  • Environmental scientist or environmental educator
  • Science teacher or educator
  • Physician, chemist, or physicist

This degree gives you the flexibility to explore careers that connect science to research, education, healthcare, and environmental stewardship.

Human Anatomy and Physiology I for Allied Health Majors

Introduction to the fundamental concepts and basic calculations of chemistry, including the composition of matter, physical and chemical changes, nomenclature and formulas, stoichiometry, gases, solutions, acids and bases.
