About English and Writing at CSUSB
If you’re passionate about language, storytelling, and the power of words to shape ideas and communities, the M.A. in English and Writing can help you turn that passion into a purpose. You’ll develop as a writer, scholar, and communicator—someone who’s not only skilled in their craft but also socially aware and ready to make an impact.
Choose the path that best fits your goals by focusing on one of five areas:
• Applied Linguistics and Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL)
• Composition and Rhetoric
• Literature
• Pedagogy
• Public and Professional Writing
Every student completes an internship in their chosen field, gaining real-world experience and valuable professional connections. Full-time students focusing on a single concentration can complete the program in as little as two years.
