Graduates of the hospitality management program are ready to take on diverse roles across the global hospitality industry. Common career paths include:

The U.S. Department of Labor projects that by 2033, one in eight new jobs will be in the leisure and hospitality sector, reflecting the industry’s strong and growing demand. While entry-level positions often serve as a starting point, professionals who advance into management or executive roles with luxury brands or major organizations can achieve significant earning potential and global career mobility.

Sample Courses

Introduction to Hospitality and Tourism

This course includes the management of hotels, clubs, casinos and resort properties in the areas of operations, customer service delivery, technology, property maintenance, and quality assurance. Front desk, rooms division, human resources, concierge, banquet, facilities, sales and marketing, and other departments will be reviewed.

Restaurant Management

The principles of restaurant management and foodservice operations with particular attention to safety, sanitation, hygiene and cleanliness standards. This course will teach and assess the Food Protection Manager certification exam.

The Art and Science of Wine

Must be 21 years or older. Viticulture (grape growing), viniculture (preparation of grapevine for winemaking), and enology (winemaking) are discussed in terms of climate, temperature, soil, grape structure, and fermentation byproducts. Specific wine formulae for each step in the process will be explored.

Opportunities for Students

As a student in the B.A. administration program with a concentration in hospitality management at Cal State San Bernardino, you’ll gain hands-on experience through projects, events and real-world learning opportunities.

Each year, students can participate in the annual Hospitality Management Gala in the Coachella Valley, a premier event that highlights student talent and connects you with industry professionals. Many students also choose to study abroad or complete internships in the hospitality industry, gaining valuable global and professional experience before graduation.
