Application Filling Period for Veterans

CSUSB is committed to provide access to Higher Education for Military Veteran students. With this in mind, we are always open for Veteran applicants. No matter the time of year you wish to apply, we have an available term for you.

Unfortunately we are unable to extend deadlines for military dependents.

Applications to Cal State, San Bernardino are submitted through Cal State Apply. Cal State Apply is a resource for gathering information about particular campuses and programs, understanding impaction requirements and for submission of your application for admission review.

Fall Admission

October 1 - June 30

Applications for Fall will be accepted from all transfer applicants October 1 through November 30. However, an extended deadline of July 31 will be available for qualified Recently Discharged Veteran Applicants. After July 31st, Veteran applicants will be able to apply for our follow spring term.

August 1 - September 30

Applications for Spring will be accepted from all transfer applicants August 1 through August 31. However, an extended deadline of September 30th will be available for qualified Recently Discharged Veteran Applicants. After September 30th Veteran applicants will be able to apply for our follow fall term.

Admission Requirements for Veterans

Submitting an application to CSUSB is the first step in becoming a Coyote! To make sure that your application will be successful you should understand what admission requirements you will be asked to meet. Below you can find information for Undergraduate applicants. We admit both First-Year students joining us after high school graduation and Transfer students who have prior college experience.

Credit for Military Service

The university grants lower-division undergraduate credit for completion of basic training in the armed forces of the United States. This credit is applied to the Lifelong Understanding area of General Education.

A limited amount of additional credit may be granted to students who have completed certain service schools in addition to basic training. The total amount of credit earned on the basis of externally developed tests and through recommendations of the commission, which may be applied to a baccalaureate degree, shall not exceed 45 quarter units, except that advanced placement credit is excluded from the limit.

Document Submission

All incoming CSUSB students will be required to submit documents to complete their admission process. However, what documents are required for your unique situation and when they are due may vary for each student.

For a personalized list of your required documents, CSUSB has created a To Do list for each student. We ask all applicants to access their myCoyote account and To Do list before submitting documents.

DD/214: You can submit your DD 214/Separation Documents when applying to the CSUSB through Cal State Apply. (You can apply for a copy of your DD 214 at the National Archives.)

If you did not include your DD-214 in your application, a copy of the document can be electronically or physically delivered to our campus.

JST: Veterans are also encouraged to submit their Joint Services Transcript (JST) to the Office of Admission and Student Recruitment for course credit evaluation.

Transcripts: All applicants to CSUSB are required to submit Official transcripts and are held to strict document deadlines. For more information on submitting transcripts visit our Submitting Documents webpage.

Service members, veterans, reservists, National Guard members and dependents may be eligible for various educational benefits. Depending on what program you are eligible for, benefits can cover some or all of the tuition costs, assist with living expenses and more.  More information for veterans, active duty service members and their families who plan on attending the California State University system, please visit their Troops to College website.
