If you're passionate about visual art but want the flexibility to explore your other interests, the B.A. in Visual Art Studies at CSUSB could be the perfect fit.
This degree is great if you want to "design your own degree" or perhaps add another major or a minor. There is a lot of flexibility in coursework and the directions that you can pursue.
Sample Courses
3D Foundation: Form, Space & Time
An introduction to analogue and digital applications used to explore elements and principles of three-dimensional art, focusing on contemporary art concepts and form in space. Experimentation with materials such as paper, clay, metal, plastic, and wood using both traditional and innovative techniques will be developed.
Creative Technology for Artists
An introduction to computer-based technology used by visual artists. Student projects will include the use of vector and raster based computer software as well as 3D modeling, digital video, and photography
Beginning Ceramics
An introduction to beginning techniques including pinch, coiling, slab building, and wheel throwing to create pottery and ceramic sculpture. Experimentation with clay and glaze chemistry and digital ceramics applications will be introduced. Lectures will provide an introduction to the ceramic art movement from a global perspective, both historical and contemporary.

- A robust selection of books, journals and references in art, design and visual culture

Students can also take advantage of CSUSB’s photo equipment lending program, giving you access to professional gear for class projects and personal work. And if you’re passionate about photography and visual storytelling, you can submit your work to dotphotozine, a student and alumni publication that celebrates emerging talent.
