About Music at CSUSB

At Cal State San Bernardino, the bachelor of arts in music helps you transform your passion for music into a foundation for creative and professional success. You’ll study music theory, history and performance, gaining the skills needed for advanced study or a career in the music industry.

You can customize your degree through one of three concentrations:

  • General Music Studies
  • Music Industry Studies
  • Music, Sound, & Technology

This flexible program also offers free electives, giving you room to explore interests outside of music (with advisor approval).

After admission to CSUSB, music majors audition with faculty to determine placement in applied lessons and ensembles. New students are also encouraged to take keyboard proficiency and music theory diagnostic exams to guide their learning path.
