About Social Work, M.S. at CSUSB

The Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) program at Cal State San Bernardino is deeply connected to the needs of the Inland Empire and beyond. Rooted in a commitment to equity and service, the program prepares you to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals, families, and communities—especially those who are underrepresented or underserved.

You can tailor your experience by choosing between two concentrations: the General Concentration or the Advanced Generalist Concentration. With flexible options that include online and in-person classes offered at both the San Bernardino and Palm Desert campuses, you can pursue your degree in a way that fits your schedule.

The M.S.W. Advanced Standing Program can be completed in one or two years, while the traditional program offers both two- and three-year completion options.

Human Behavior in the Social Environment: Lifespan Development

Critical examination and application of biological, psychological, and social aspects of human development from infancy through old age. Major theories, risk and protective factors.

Human Behavior in the Social Environment: Critical Topics

Writing intensive course covering social work ethics, generalist practice, social systems theory, strengths perspective, empowerment, diversity, and oppression/discrimination.

Social Work in the Global Perspective

Major concepts and practices in international social work. Includes a study abroad component.
