Careers in National Cybersecurity Studies

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics sees much-faster-than-average job growth for information security analysts–29% faster compared to the average profession. Alumni serve in many different career fields, including defense, security and intelligence, including agencies within the U.S. intelligence community, such as:

  • Air Force Intelligence Agency (AFIA)
  • Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)
  • Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA)
  • Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
  • Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
  • National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA)
  • National Security Agency (NSA)
  • Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI)

In addition, our graduates are employed by the Government Accountability Office (GAO), branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, Congress and the Department of State (DOS). Other alumni have pursued careers in law enforcement, including federal agencies such as the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), FBI, Border Patrol, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), as well as state and local agencies, with some appointed to their area Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF).

Sample Courses

International Security

Seminar on international security and the theories that inform our analysis of contemporary national and international security problems.

National Security Policy

Introduction to concepts and principles of national security policy through an examination of topics in international relations, foreign policy, arms control, strategic thought and alliance strategy.

Incident Handling and Cyber Investigation

A systematic inspection of systems for evidence of a crime and use in civil litigation. Identify sources of digital evidence, preserve and analyze digital evidence, present findings (deposition of legal evidence in a court of law), and learn tools forensics experts use.
