About Marketing at CSUSB

As a student pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Administration with a concentration in Marketing, you’ll build a strong foundation in leadership, management, and organizational strategy while gaining specialized expertise in marketing. 

Courses cover marketing research and communications, strategic planning, digital and integrated marketing, and analytics, among other key areas. 

By the time you graduate, you’ll be prepared for careers in business, government, or the nonprofit sector, equipped with practical knowledge and problem-solving skills to navigate complex systems, lead teams, and excel professionally.

Graduates in Marketing pursue careers as brand strategists, digital marketing specialists, market research analysts, and more. 

Because marketing is essential across nearly every industry—retail, technology, media, manufacturing, and beyond—the field offers strong career prospects and competitive salaries. 

Demand is especially high in digital marketing and data-driven roles, which continue to grow rapidly. 

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment for market research analysts and marketing managers is projected to grow faster than average, creating excellent opportunities for CSUSB graduates.

Sample Courses

Principles of Strategy

Learn about the fundamental principles of business, concepts of business policy, and how these can be applied to strategic functions and practices for strategic planning and decision making in the organization context. Understand the environmental ecosystem, network of stakeholders, and portfolio of value transformation capabilities.

Marketing Principles

The goal of this course is to build a basic framework to enable students to evaluate, describe, and design marketing activities with practical insights into the real world. Students will be introduced to the language of marketing such as SWOT, segmentation, targeting, and positioning.

Professional Selling and Sales Management

Students will learn about the sales process, the buying process, relationship selling, prospecting, sales call planning, communication, negotiating, and closing sales, as well as how to motivate, compensate, and train sales people. Develop interpersonal communication skills through role-playing and other selling techniques in the selling of products and services.

Melika Kordrostami, Ph.D.
Marketing associate professor Melika Kordrostami's teaching interests are centered on consumer behavior, research methods and digital marketing, and she implements high-impact practices and innovative teaching methods in her classes. In recognition of her excellence in teaching, she has been honored with several teaching awards. Her research has been published in the highly respected Journal of Marketing Management and Journal of Product and Brand Management.
