Geography class

Geography is all about understanding the world — how people, places and environments connect and change over time. At CSUSB, you’ll explore the relationships between humans and the Earth through both science and culture.

As a geography major, you’ll choose from three flexible concentrations:

  • Urban Studies
  • Global Studies & Regional Geography
  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

Whether you're interested in cities, climate or technology, this degree prepares you to think critically about global challenges and local solutions.

Sample Courses

Environment and Society

An interdisciplinary study of relationships between social and natural systems comprising modern environmental issues. This course is a core requirement of the Environmental Studies major and minor.

Social Geography

How social processes and identities are intertwined with the places where we live.

Weather and Climate

An examination of atmospheric processes and the relationships between the atmosphere, hydrosphere, lithosphere and biosphere that influence local, regional and global patterns of weather and climate.
