About Digital Arts (Minor Only) at CSUSB
The Digital Arts minor at Cal State San Bernardino gives students the opportunity to explore the creative and technical processes that shape today’s digital media landscape.
Through coursework in digital imaging, web and interactive design, animation, video production, and emerging technologies, students gain hands-on experience in contemporary tools and methods used across art, design, and multimedia fields.
This interdisciplinary minor is open to students from any major who want to develop skills in visual communication, digital creativity, and applied design. Students learn to think conceptually, solve design problems, and create digital works that are both visually compelling and professionally polished.
Whether students plan to pursue careers in creative industries or simply want to enhance their digital literacy, the Digital Arts minor offers a flexible and engaging complement to programs in communication, marketing, computer science, theatre, business, and the arts.
Careers in Digital Arts (Minor Only)
Skills developed through the Digital Arts minor open doors to a wide range of creative and technical professions. With the ability to design, edit, animate, and produce digital content, students become competitive candidates in industries that rely on visual storytelling and interactive media.

The minor also prepares students for advanced study in digital art, graphic design, visual communication, animation, and related creative fields.
Sample Courses
Digital 3D and Time-Based Media
Integration of digital 3D, immersive-video, 2D or 3D animation, virtual reality, and/or motion graphics for communication. Applied research, project planning, scripting, storyboarding, and storytelling techniques to create contemporary projects for the field.
Digital Illustration
Students will convert photo references and their own hand-drawn illustrations into stylized vector graphics.
Video Art
Creative research and experimentation in digital video art including history, theory, production (camera, lighting, sound, and editing techniques), presentation (single channel, multi-channel, projection, and installation), and contemporary practices.
