About Child, Adolescent and Family Studies, M.A. at CSUSB
At Cal State San Bernardino, the master of arts in child, adolescent, and family studies prepares you for advanced careers in academia, early education, child development and family services, or for continued study at the doctoral level.
Offered in the evening to accommodate working professionals, the program takes an innovative, hands-on approach that encourages you to build your own understanding of child development through research and practical experience with children and families.
Ideal for those already working in early childhood education, elementary or special education, or social services, this program deepens your expertise in areas such as developmental psychology, family studies, and research methodology.
Graduates earn eligibility for the Program Director Child Development Permit, the highest early education teaching credential in California.

A review of research on selected topics related to family and parenting issues, and the relation of such to child development.
Advanced Childhood Assessment
Overview of major approaches to developmentally appropriate childhood assessment practices.
Effective, Inclusive, and Equitable Practices with Children
This course will examine effective practices including theoretical and practical implications of societal, historical and interpersonal oppressions as they impact children, families, programs, classrooms, and teaching.
