Minor in Nonprofit Management


The following five courses are required for the Undergraduate Nonprofit Minor offered by CSUSB's Public Administration department:

Courses Course Description
PA 5140 – Management of Nonprofit Organizations Analyzes the specific problems of management in nonprofit organizations, including planning, personnel, financial and policy issues. The objective of this course is for students to critically examine how individuals can effectively lead and manage nonprofit organizations.
PA 5900 – Fundraising and Grant Writing for Nonprofit Organizations Students will be introduced to the practical skills necessary to generate resources for nonprofit organizations from foundations, corporations, government agencies and individuals.
PA 5010 – Administrative Leadership Theory and practice of leading public sector organizations. Topics include leader traits, skills, styles, behaviors, development and evaluation.
PA 5900 – Executive Nonprofit Leadership Students will be introduced to the leadership skills necessary to lead and manage nonprofit organizations, with special attention to the common challenges nonprofit leaders confront and how to overcome these challenges.
PA 3800 – Introduction to Public Administration An introduction to the purposes, methods and characteristics of public management, including organization of public services, roles and relationships of public administrators, accountability and the achievement of public goals.
