Physics, B.S.

About Physics, B.S. at CSUSB

If you’re planning a career in a physics-related field or intend to continue on to graduate school, the Bachelor of Science in Physics is a strong choice.

This program includes a deeper concentration of coursework in physics and related sciences, giving you a thorough understanding of theoretical principles as well as hands-on experience designing, operating, and controlling experimental apparatus.

With this rigorous foundation, you’ll be well prepared for advanced study or for direct entry into research, industry, or government positions. (Compared to the B.A. in Physics, this program places more emphasis on physics while offering fewer electives in other subjects.)

Careers in Physics, B.S.

Physics professor

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects faster-than-average growth for physicists between 2023 and 2033, and the skills gained through a physics degree are highly valued across many industries. Depending on your goals — and in some cases with additional training or graduate study — career paths include:

  • Physicist
  • Engineer
  • Research scientist
  • Meteorologist
  • Oceanographer
  • Educator or teacher
  • Web developer
  • Systems analyst
  • Data analyst
  • Lab technician
  • Air traffic controller

Physics graduates are also well positioned for emerging opportunities in technology, energy, healthcare, and other fields that rely on strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
