About Public Health, DrPH at CSUSB

The Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) is coming to CSUSB in Fall 2027, launching a powerful new doctoral pathway for leaders ready to shape the future of population health, equity, and policy. This advanced professional doctorate prepares experienced practitioners to lead large-scale public health initiatives that improve health outcomes and address social, economic, and structural determinants of health. Grounded in population health, epidemiology, health policy, data analytics, and social justice, the DrPH emphasizes applied leadership, systems thinking, and community-engaged solutions. As the only public, nonprofit DrPH program in the Inland Empire, this degree positions CSUSB at the forefront of training public health leaders who drive meaningful change—locally, nationally, and globally.

Meet Professor Dorothy Chen-Maynard, Ph.D.

Dorothy Chen-Maynard, professor of health science and human ecology, teaches an array of courses at CSUSB, including cultural foods, culinary arts, principles of nutrition, and assessment and research methods. She was the recipient of the 2020-21 CSUSB Outstanding Service Award for her extensive and sustained contributions to students, the campus and the greater community. Dorothy loves CSUSB for giving her multiple opportunities to make a difference, including founding the CSUSB Philanthropic Foundation to manage generous gifts for the benefit of the university.

Opportunities for New Students

Students engage in a practice-focused doctoral curriculum designed for working professionals and community leaders.
