There are several programs to support research, scholarly, and creative activities. Some of these are required by federal granting agencies and we must demonstrate compliance with the federal regulations. Several of these activities are conducted by committees comprised of faculty and staff.
- The Institutional Review Board (IRB) is responsible for reviewing protocols for research involving human subjects.
- The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) is responsible for reviewing protocols for research involving animal subjects.
- The Radiation Safety Committee (RSC) is responsible for reviewing protocols for research utilizing radioactive materials.
- A Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) is responsible for the oversight and review of research utilizing recombinant DNA as well as research containing biohazardous materials.
- The Office of Academic Research has programs to support faculty publications including statistical consultants and editorial consultants. In addition, the university has access to the bibliographic reference programs EndNote Web and Zotero.
- When faculty, staff and students have generated Intellectual Property which has commercial value, the Office of Academic Research will consult regarding procedures and support for technology transfer including patents and licensing.
- The NIH inititated a new public access policy on April 7, 2008 that requires NIH funded researchers to deposit a copy of their final, peer-reviewed manuscripts into PubMed Central.
- NIH Financial Conflict of Interest Policy (FCOI) for CSUSB/UEC effective August 24, 2012 under Code of Federal Regulations 42 CFR part 50.604(a).
- Office of Student Research - creation of Office of Student Research to support both undergraduate and graduate research.
