Laughter is often seen as a way to ease tension in an overly politicized social world. But do the stakes change when the jokes are racist? Dr. Perez confronts this unsetting question, arguing that doing so is crucial to understanding the persistence of racism and white supremacy in American society.

After receiving her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Glass from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University in 2012, she immediately became immersed in the world of glass lighting and production.

Keynote Speaker Dr. Louis Gonzalez - Born and raised in South Florida to Cuban exile parents, Dr. Louis Gonzalez holds a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology and has dedicated his life to medical research. His current work utilizes his background in immunology to design and test new drugs with the goal of empowering the immune system to overcome the turmoil caused by cancer. Please join us to hear Dr. Gonzalez's talk about his experience as a researcher and learn about the ways that researchers take data garnered from pre-clinical experiments in murine tumor models and apply them to exploratory endpoints in phase I clinical trials.

Proposal Preparation and Submission

In addition to covering how ORSP can assist you with your proposal preparation and submission, ORSP will also provide tips for using the SciENcv portal for exporting personnel documents in various agency formats. NSF is partnering with the NIH (and more recently, Department of Energy) to use SciENcv as an approved format for use in preparation of the biographical sketch and current & pending sections of a proposal. SciENcv will allow users to export NIH, NSF or DOE formatted personnel documents for inclusion with your proposal submission(s). Additional federal agencies may start using the system using the system as well. Come learn how to get started!
