Join us for "Purpose-Driven Entrepreneurship: Turning Adversity into Opportunity While Building Businesses That Create Social Impact" a seminar designed to inspire business graduate students to think beyond traditional entrepreneurship and explore how business can be a powerful vehicle for personal transformation and social impact. Discover how adversity can become a catalyst for entrepreneurship, leadership, and meaningful change. This session will explore the journey of building purpose-driven businesses, the importance of aligning entrepreneurship with social impact, and practical insights for aspiring entrepreneurs who want to create businesses that not only succeed financially but also make a difference in their communities.

Featured Speaker: Mariatu Tu Browne, CEO of Tu Organics LLC | Tu Organics Salon. Mariatu is an entrepreneur, educator, author, and doctoral student at the University of La Verne. She is the founder and CEO of Tu Organics Salon and founder of the Tu Organics Foundation. After overcoming domestic violence and numerous personal challenges, she earned her bachelor's degree in Entrepreneurial Management and Marketing and an MBA from California State University, San Bernardino. Today, she is dedicated to empowering future entrepreneurs through education, leadership, and social impact.

Mariatu is also the author of Tu Success! A Journey from Pain to Purpose, with proceeds supporting scholarships and workforce development initiatives through the Tu Organics Foundation. Book signing will be available for those attending in person.

ShEconomy 2026

The JHBC Office of Academic Equity is hosting its 9th annual ShEconomy event on October 22nd, 2026 from 5:30PM to 8PM (with the LIVE STREAM beginning at 6PM for those attending the event online).

The Future of Work: Building Careers, Wealth, and Leadership is this years theme and it will examine how technological, economic, and workplace changes are reshaping opportunities for women. Through conversations with industry leaders and experts, participants will explore how to navigate change with confidence, make informed career and financial decisions, and position themselves for long-term success. The program is designed to inspire students, faculty, staff, and community members to build meaningful careers, achieve financial well-being, and lead with purpose in an evolving world.

The event is free and open to the public. We strongly encourage you to join us in person for the full experience. Attending on campus provides an outstanding opportunity to engage directly with speakers, connect with students, faculty, and community leaders, and take advantage of meaningful networking. The upcoming forum will discuss "Navigating Your Early Career," where industry professionals will share insights, strategies, and practical advice for building a successful career foundation. The ideas are bold. The pitches are fast. The stakes are rising.

Join us on Wednesday, November 5, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Garner Holt Productions in Redlands for the 2026 Garner Holt Student Fast Pitch Competition Semi-Finals, where approximately 15 to 20 student entrepreneurs will take the stage to pitch their business ideas, startup concepts, and innovative solutions.

This is where the competition gets real.

Semi-finalists will have just minutes to capture the attention of judges, showcase their entrepreneurial potential, and compete for a chance to advance. Attendees will get a front-row look at the next wave of student innovation while connecting with students, faculty, mentors, community partners, and entrepreneurship supporters.

Seats are limited, and this is one of the most exciting moments of the competition season. Don’t miss the chance to see which student founders rise to the top.

In 2003, the Randall W. Lewis Center for Entrepreneurship at California State University San Bernardino, founded the annual "Spirit of the Entrepreneur" Awards Program in the Inland Empire. Now in its 24th year, the awards are a reflection of our passionate belief that the Inland Empire community should honor and reward the entrepreneurial men and women who innovate, take risks and build businesses that contribute significantly to our local economy.
