1098T Tax Reporting
The 1098-T forms are expected to be mailed every year by January 31st.
The 1098-T forms cannot be accessed through MyCoyote at this time, but they are available ON-LINE with our 1098-T service provider, Heartland ECSI:

Heartland ECSI is providing the 2018 Tax Year 1098-T Tuition Statement. In addition to 2018, Heartland ECSI will have record of the 2008, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 tax years. For other years please inquire with Student Financial Services directly at (909) 537-5162.
The 2018 1098-T Tuition Statement reflects qualified financial transactions from January 01 – December 31, 2018 including Winter 2019 if you registered by December 31st.
Students can access the1098-T statement quickly and easily by visiting https://heartland.ecsi.net/ using one of the following methods:
- If you already have a profile with Heartland ECSI, please sign in. If you have not yet connected your tax statements to your account, you will need to connect them using your Heartland Key. Simply click on the Connect an Account button and enter your tax statement Heartland Key. The Heartland Key for your tax statement is XXXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX.
- If you have not registered for an account, click on the Sign In or Register button in the upper right side of the page. Complete the registration section to create your profile and then connect your tax account by entering your Heartland Key. The Heartland Key for your tax statement is XXXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX
Charges reflected on your statement
Box 2 reports the total qualified tuition and fees charged, not payments made on the student's account. Box 5 may report total amount of financial aid grants and scholarships, tuition waivers, third party, exemptions, etc.
Because the 1098-T reflects financial transactions for the calendar year, January 1st - December 31st, if you enroll in November for a future Winter term, the qualified tuition/fees will be reported in Box 2. If future Winter financial aid grants are released by December 31st the amount will be reported in Box 5. If future Winter financial aid grants are released after Dec. 31st the amount will be reported in the following calendar year's statement.
Reporting to the Internal Revenue Service
The Form 1098-T is reported to the IRS. You are not required to attach IRS Form 1098-T to your tax return.
The primary purpose of this form is to let you know that CSUSB has provided required information to the IRS to assist them in determining who may be eligible to claim the tuition and fee deduction or an education credit. There is no IRS requirement that you claim a tuition and fees deduction or an education related tax credit.

For assistance on correcting your social security number as reported on the 1098-T form, contact Admissions at (909) 537-5188. If a social security number was not provided to the school, 1098-T data cannot be reported to the IRS with your social security number.
