Classes / Field Placements

BASW

  • Students are required to complete the SW 3200 – Child Welfare Services course
  • BASW students complete their field placement on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the second year of their academic program in a county Public Child Welfare agency.

Advanced Standing

  • Students are required to complete additional summer seminars
  • Advanced standing students complete 1 year of field placement in a county Public Child Welfare agency.
    • Students who are current Public Child Welfare employees will complete their field placement with the Public Child Welfare department in their county of employment.

2-Year MSW

  • Students must complete SW 6038 – Public Child Welfare course
  • MSW students receiving a stiped must complete their research project on a topic relevant to Public Child Welfare.
  • MSW students are in field Tuesdays and Thursdays. The foundation year (1st year) of field placement is completed in agencies that service Title IV-E clients, or those at risk of being Title IV-E eligible.
    • The advanced year (2nd year) of field placement is completed in a county Public Child Welfare agency.

3-Year MSW

  • Students must complete SW 6038 – Public Child Welfare course
  • MSW students receiving a stiped must complete their research project on a topic relevant to Public Child Welfare.
  • On campus Title IV-E students are in field on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
    • For both on campus and online students field placement begins the second year of their academic program.
  • The foundation year (2nd year) of field placement is typically completed in an agency that serves Title IV-E clients, or those at risk of being Title IV-E eligible.
  • The advanced year (3rd year) of field placement is completed with student’s Public Child Welfare department in their county of employment.
