Meeting With Your Advisor
In order to get to know our students and provide individual support tailored to their academic and career goals, every physics major is required to meet with a department faculty member each semester for an advising appointment. At these appointments, you will get a chance to discuss your course plan, any challenges or concerns you have about how your classes are going, opportunities for internship and research, and how to best use your time at CSUSB to prepare for your post-graduation plans.
Who Is My Advisor?
Our department doesn't pre-assign faculty advisors. Student-faculty relationships develop organically, based on your individual interests and experiences, so you're not locked into meeting with the same person every semester if your interests evolve. You'll meet all of our faculty and staff early in your degree through the Tools for Physicists seminar course, and we encourage you to build relationships with whichever faculty members best fit your goals.
Stop By Anytime
If you would like to talk to a faculty advisor outside of official advising, feel free to stop by our offices! We love getting to know our students and are happy to chat. In fact, many of us will welcome you with our candy and snack bowls.
