Conferencia en la Universidad de Cal State San Bernardino
El 16 de Octubre se llevará a cabo la conferencia Latino Education and Advocacy Days, mejor conocida por su sigla en inglés como LEAD, que se traduciría como Día de Defensa de la Educación Latina. Esta actividad se desarrollará en el Centro de Estudiantes Manuel Santos, de la Universidad Estatal de California en San Bernardino (CSUSB)
El objetivo de la cumbre será promover y crear conciencia sobre la gravedad de la crisis que la educación latina enfrenta actualmente, y fortificar el desarrollo intelectual, cultural, y personal de los maestros, administradores, líderes y estudiantes de nuestras comunidades.
Todas las presentaciones se efectuarán en inglés, pero habrá intérpretes calificados de traducción simultánea a español disponible todo el día.

The LEAD Summit 15ñera marks fifteen years of collective vision, scholarship, and activism — a coming-of-age ceremony for the Summit itself. Like a quinceañera, this milestone is both celebration and transformation: a ritual passage from innocence to consciousness, from youthful promise to organized resistance. It honors the journey that has shaped this movement while declaring its readiness for deeper responsibility and impact.
Held in the luminous spirit of Día de los Muertos, this year’s gathering embraces remembrance and renewal. Surrounded by marigolds and candles, we honor the educators, organizers, and visionaries who paved the way, even as we uplift a new generation rising to meet a world in turmoil. “Divina Juventud: From Innocence to Resistance” invokes the sacred vitality of youth — not as naïve idealism, but as revolutionary energy committed to life, dignity, and truth in an era of disinformation and democratic uncertainty.
The 15ñera for Justice reframes a traditional rite of passage through cultural remembrance and social transformation. Just as a quinceañera marks entry into community responsibility, this fifteenth anniversary signals our collective accountability: to defend democracy, reimagine education as liberation, and resist the normalization of injustice. Through panels, speakers, cultural performances, and community rituals, the Summit becomes a living ofrenda — an altar of fifteen years of educación con conciencia and courageous dialogue.
This year’s Summit calls educators, students, artists, and advocates to rise, reflect, rejoice, resist, and reimagine together. It asks how we transform grief into collective power and how we center the brilliance and courage of youth to imagine new forms of justice. The LEAD Summit 15ñera is not only a commemoration but a declaration: we have come of age; innocence has given way to insight; and in the spirit of our ancestors — ni muertos ni vencidos — we rise.

In short, those sharing a common interest and commitment to educational issues that impact Latinos.
