Application Process

You must first meet the California State University of San Bernardino requirements located on the Office of Graduate Studies website.

Admission is highly competitive. We strongly encourage prospective students to apply as early as possible since it can take up to 4 weeks to process an application after all the required documents have been received by CSUSB.

Step 1: Application to the University

All prospective students need to submit an application along with the graduate application fee of $70 online at CalState.edu/Apply. Your application will not be processed without the fee.

Step 2: Graduate Studies Review

All documents required to complete the university and program admission files must be submitted to the address below:

Application documents to Graduate Admissions should include:

  1. Completed graduate application at CalState.edu/apply.
  2. One set of original and official transcripts of all previous academic work attempted.
    • Applicants must also submit your official transcripts from every college you have attended and proof of your Bachelor's degree
    • Applicants must submit official transcripts in sealed envelopes from each issuing institution (unofficial transcripts will not be considered). Some institutions will provide electronic transcripts, which are accepted.
    • CSUSB Students are not required to submit any CSUSB transcripts.
    • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with required minimum GPA of 3.0 calculated using the entire degree or the last 60 semester (90 quarter) units, which may include post-baccalaureate work is required. Acceptions can be made for those with GPAs between 2.5-2.99 email mba@csusb.edu to discuss your options.
    • Applicants with international coursework must also submit all official transcripts and proof of a bachelor's degree. However, if certificates and transcripts are not in English, they must be accompanied by certified English translations.

Step 3: Additional Requirements for International Students

The Center for International Studies and Programs (CISP) is a valuable resource to our students from other countries. Additional application materials should be sent to CISP directly:

Application documents to CISP should include:

  1. Statement of financial responsibility
  2. Residency information
  3. Evidence of adequate medical/hospital insurance
  4. Official copy of TOEFL or IELTS score.

Step 4: MBA Review

Once you have been cleared by the university, your complete application package will be sent to the MBA office for final acceptance. You will be notified by e-mail and/or mail regarding the decision. Please note that it may take a few weeks to process applications after all required documents have arrived at CSUSB.

Application documents reviewed by the MBA Office are:

  1. Current resume- be sure to include the months all positions began and ended.
  2. Statement of purpose
  3. 1 letter of recommendation
  4. Business Aptitude Requirement: Applicants applying for the Executive MBA must submit a resume to the MBA office for review of professional experience. Applicants for the Traditional MBA must meet ONE of the following Business Aptitude Requirements:
    1. 3.2 cumulative GPA from an AACSB-accredited undergraduate business program.
    2. Minimum two years of post-undergraduate professional (defined as exempt-level) and/or managerial (defined as responsibility for scheduling, hiring, firing, evaluating, developing and/or rewarding employees) experience.
    3. Proof of completion of an accredited graduate degree (e.g. J.D., Ph.D., M.D.) from an accredited college or university with a minimum GPA of 3.0 in the graduate program;
    4. Submission of an acceptable score on the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) or Graduate Record Exam (GRE) as determined by the MBA Committee, ratified by the College Curriculum Committee, and conforming with Office of Graduate Studies requirements. The current acceptable GMAT or GRE score must meet a minimum GMAT score of 470 (minimum 10% on GMAT Verbal Ability and Quantitative Ability percentile rankings) or a minimum GRE score of 298 (minimum 10% on GRE Verbal Ability and Quantitative Ability percentile rankings).
