Motor Behavior Laboratory

Motor Behavior Laboratory (HP-255)

The Motor Behavior Laboratory is dedicated to conduct research and interactive class activities specifically related to investigating the use of observation techniques on performance and skill acquisition. The lab sits at an intersection between motor behavior/motor learning and sport and exercise psychology.

Two faculty currently work out of the Motor Behavior Laboratory, Dr. Rymal and Dr. Hill.  Drs. Rymal and Hill both have unique training and expertise in their respective fields but also have overlapping research interests nested within social cognitive theory. Specifically, Dr. Rymal examines how observation can be used in the learning of new physical skills and the refinement of existing skills. Dr. Hill is interested in efficacy perceptions at multiple levels (i.e. self, collective, other, and proxy beliefs) in sport and physical activity settings. Both research lines complement each other while creating practical opportunities for students to gain experience in research.
