Biohazardous Waste

What is Biohazardous Waste?

Biohazardous waste is generated on campus from research and academic laboratory activities and at the Student Health Center. These types of wastes require special safety precautions during handling to keep employees, the public, and the environment safe from exposure and release. Assistance with the proper collection, storage, and disposal of campus-generated biohazard and medical waste is provided by the Environmental Health & Safety Department (EH&S).

Please contact the EH&S Department by submitting an EH&S Service Request for a consultation before engaging in any activities that will generate biohazard and/or medical wastes.
