PDC WorkLocal Industry Immersion Days (includes Job Shadowing & Workplace Immersions)

These experiences strengthen ties between our university and the local economy, while preparing students to take informed next steps in their career journeys. The program helps local talent stay local and thrive.
At its core, WorkLocal is about creating direct pathways between our students and the communities in which they live and aspire to work. Through experiences such as our Industry Immersion Days, students step beyond the classroom and into professional environments, gaining firsthand exposure to workplace culture, career pathways, and in-demand skills in our regional economy.

Faculty Testimonial
PDC WorkLocal Industry Immersion Days give aspiring history teachers the opportunity to step beyond the classroom and experience the realities of today’s educational workplaces firsthand. Students had the opportunity to participate in on-site workshops with all three school districts across the Coachella Valley, giving them the ability to connect directly with educators, administrators, and school communities while exploring career pathways, workplace culture, and the evolving needs of K–12 education. These experiences helped students understand professional expectations, the realities of district needs, and what they need to do to obtain careers close to home — which is the goal of many of our students. Whether applying locally or across the country, the WorkLocal Industry Immersion days provided invaluable hands-on professional experience for students while demonstrating CSUSB’s commitment to developing the next generation of educators.
