Facilities

Our Visual Arts building is entirely dedicated to the study and making of art and design. We have the best facilities in the whole of the CSU system of twenty-three campuses.

You will find dedicated painting and drawing studios, computer labs for graphic design, web-design, UX/UI design (user-experience/user-interface), illustration, labs and darkrooms for traditional chemical photography, a well-equipped digital photography lab, two photography lighting studios, a huge printmaking studio with traditional and digital printmaking, sculpture studios, welding rooms, our foundry and forge, our glass making "hot shop," a massive ceramics area, two wood workshops and a metal shop with digital fabrication machinery, plus multiple specialist classrooms.

Alongside this we have the innovative VRC (Visual Resource Center), which provides support to faculty and students for the research of art and design resources, including books and journals but also a vast array of online resources including the specialist art and design image database. The VRC also holds iMacs, iPad Pros, MacBook Pros, projectors, and other scanning and printing resources for faculty and students.

We also have a range of exhibitions spaces to show art and design works by our students – Gallery VA106, display cabinets, our courtyard, and our excellent working relationship with RAFFMA (the Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art) on campus, which hosts the end-of-year student show, MFA Studio Art students’ graduation shows, a range of faculty exhibitions, other artists from across the world, and their collection of modern and contemporary art, as well as their world-renowned collection of Egyptian artifacts.

In the following pages you will see the massive range of traditional and new technologies - machines, tools and materials - that we have available to help develop your skills and knowledge of art and design.
