Focusing on Student Success!

This is Collin. He has always dreamed of jumping out of an airplane, but because of safety restrictions, he was never able to make that dream a reality. Instead of letting that stop him, Collin's experience in the PAWS Radio & Multimedia Learning Lab allowed him to experience it through virtual reality.

With the guidance and support of Professor Lacey Kendall, instructor for the Technology Practicum, that dream became possible. Using VR technology and the hands-on training provided in the practicum, Collin stepped into a virtual world and felt what it’s like to jump from an aircraft, safely, and on his own terms.

But this experience became more than just a simulation. Throughout the process, Collin learned to operate the full range of equipment inside the PAWS Radio & Multimedia Learning Lab, from VR systems to studio controls, audio boards, and video production tools. What started as a personal dream evolved into an educational journey in multimedia technology.

CSUSB Faculty and Staff Produced Immersive Content

Dr. Michelle Russen from the Hospitality Management Department at CSUSB's Palm Desert Campus had her students create promotional 360-degree videos showcasing the Palm Desert and Coachella Valley areas. As part of their hospitality management course, students filmed, wrote scripts, recorded voice-overs, and edited the content themselves. Using immersive technology, they developed engaging media to promote the region’s attractions and hospitality opportunities.
