Center for STEM Education

At CSUSB Watson College of Education, we're committed to shaping the future of STEM education. Our Center for STEM Education embodies this mission by targeting the opportunity gaps in K-12 STEM learning in the Greater Inland Empire. We proudly introduce the CSUSB Center for STEM Education, an interactive haven for young minds, fostering hands-on learning and excitement for STEM subjects. Additionally, our Project Impact aims at enriching the pipeline with minority male educators. At the same time, our Professional Development School Teacher Residency Program equips aspiring teachers with the necessary skills and knowledge for effective STEM teaching. Join us in this transformative journey to enlighten, educate, and empower future generations.

STEM Center Goal

A Multi-pronged approach to closing the Opportunities Gap in STEM Education for K-12 students in the Greater Inland Empire Region of Southern California

Rationale
  • The Inland Empire is home to two big California counties (San Bernardino and Riverside).
  • K-12 enrollment figures by ethnicity show that San Bernardino County schools have 56.6% of their enrollment as Hispanic, 21.3% as White, 13.0% as African American, and the rest constitute Asian and other minority populations.
  • A 2018 data shows that only 14.2% of the residents of Inland Empire ages 25 and above possess a bachelor’s degree, while only 7.8% possess a graduate degree
Initiative

This is an Intentional and Strategic engagement in addressing the opportunities gap in STEM education in the Inland Empire using Three Pathways:

  • CSUSB Center for STEM Education
  • Project Impact – Minority Male Teacher Pipeline Program
  • Professional Development School Teacher Residency Program
