Katrina McDowell, Chair - Staff Representative
Class of 2005
Katrina is a proud alumnus that obtained her Bachelors of Science degree from CSUSB in Nutrition and Food Services and is currently working as a Parking Officer at the CSUSB Palm Desert Campus. She recently successfully passed the bar exam and looks forward to entering the next chapter of her journey as a District Attorney. She is also part of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. that continues to service the community through mentorship, foodbank efforts including but not limited to healthcare awareness campaigns. Her passion is to serve her community while bringing alumni back to the campus community to reinforce a strong foundation of support, encouragement, confidence and determination.

Ayana Cobb, Secretary/Historian/Community Liaison Coordinator
Class of 2025
Ayana Cobb is an army veteran with several military & professional awards and honors. In 2024, as a dean student she transferred from Long Beach City College to Cal State San Bernardino, joined BSU, was appointed the student representative on the BFSSA Committee, served as BSU brand consultant and production manager. In 2025, she graduated with her Bachelor of Arts in Communication with a Concentration in Relational and Organizational. She has an extensive criminal justice background and multiple educational degrees including working with several prominent nonprofit organizations that advocate for veterans and students. She and her beautiful daughter were born in the Midwest, but they were raised in Southern California. She works in entertainment management and brand consulting but is not limited to production management. In 2021, she was one of the few selected to assist with Governor Newsom’s event held at Long Beach City College. She has extensive experience working with community and government organizations. Her goal is to empower, encourage and remind students “Remember who you are!” and that passionate people coming together isn’t a threat to the table but an asset to the common good.
Evajuani D. Bynum, Treasury
Class of 2017
Evajuani is a proud alumnus that obtained her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Master of Science degree from CSUSB with a Minor in accounting. She has spent over 30 years serving and reshaping the landscape for the State of California. As a CPA, she has had extraordinary success with her business that assist with financial Plans for small businesses, entrepreneurs, and nonprofit organizations that she founded in 2004 called “Bynum’s Business Solutions”.
Her commitment to improving the quality of life for individuals with Alzheimer's and the impacts on the family, friends, healthcare and community continues to be a driving force as one of the multiple community organizations she serves.
Her passion is rooted in her unwavering faith and commitment to living in accordance with the teachings of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She resides in San Bernardino, California, alongside her husband of 26 years, Shannon Bynum.
Lakeisha Rivers, Board Member -- Staff Representative
Class of 2017
Lakeisha currently serves as the Director of Coyote Central and Senior Associate Director of Financial Aid & Scholarships. She is a proud alumnus that obtained her MPA in Public Administration with a Leadership concentration and is currently pursuing her (insert her degree type and major).She has over 26 years of experience in higher education and is passionate about serving the students and families in the CSUSB community. As a member of the California Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (CASFAA), the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA), the American Association of Blacks in Higher Education, and the National Black MBA Association. Her leadership and lived experience as a first-generation college graduate including mother of three college graduates has allowed her to not only create and cultivate long standing relationships in various communities but to advocate for change that is for the betterment of the community.
Prince Ogidikpe, Board Member
Class of 2019
Prince currently serves as Senior District Representative for Senator Eloise Gomez Reyes. He is a proud alumnus that obtained both his Bachelors of Arts in Biological Psychology and his Master in Public Administration. During his time at CSUSB, he served as ASI President and was heavily involved in leadership and student advocacy. His lived experience and leadership skills allowed him to make extraordinary connections with not only leadership but students as well. Upon graduating in 2019 from CSUSB he consistently applied his leadership, mentoring and communication skills to advocate for change in several roles, such as the President of the Black Young Democrats of the Inland Empire (BYDIE) and General Secretary of the Nigerian American Public Affairs Committee (NAPAC). His leadership skills and relationships with both students and administrators have allowed him to be instrumental in impactful change as he routinely advocates on the local, state and federal level.
Tiara Richardson, Board Member
Class of 2018
Tiara is a proud alumnus that obtained her Bachelor's of Science in Kinesiology from CSUSB. She has remained active in several organizations like American Association of University Women (AAUW), Redlands Leadership Cohort through the Redlands Chamber of Commerce, Association of California School Administrators (ACSA), National Alliance of Black School Educators (NABSE) including but not limited to Rotary Club of Redlands. Throughout her career she has served in executive and administrative leadership roles including Executive Director of Student Services and Family Engagement, Director of Student Success, Vice Principal, Dean of Students, and Associate Executive Director for various afterschool and youth programs. During her tenure at CSUSB, she served as a member of Black Student Union and assisted with strategic planning for multiple events throughout the CSUSB community.
Herbert L. English Jr., Board Member
Class of 2000
Herb” has 20 years of experience in higher education with 17 of those years in the California Community College system. Herb currently serves as the Dean of Counseling and Specially Funded Programs at Riverside City College in Riverside, California. He is a proud alumnus of CSUSB and obtained his Bachelor's in Sociology.
In addition, Herb has served on numerous college, district, and state-wide committees throughout his career and has been active in several community organizations including serving on the Board of Directors for the Boys & Gils Club of San Bernardino, African American Male Educational Network and Development (A²MEND) and the Chief Student Services Officer Association. Herb is an innovative leader that has a history of developing programs and services that foster both student access and success, including the development of targeted programs for historically underserved populations.
Herb has also worked as an Emergency Response Social Worker for Riverside County Child Protective Services and Executive Director/ Director of Operations of the Boys & Girls Club of San Bernardino. Herb is a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and committed to local youth, primarily African American males inspiring them to pursue a college education.
Vanehya Jenkins, Board Member
Class of 2025
Vanehya serves as the scheduling graduate student assistant for the San Manuel Student Union. She served as Vice President of Black Student Union and Special Events Coordinator. She is a proud alumnus of CSUSB and obtained her Bachelor's of Arts in Business Administration with a concentration in Entrepreneurship. Her leadership skills have been instrumental in advocacy of the betterment of student experience. She has Served as Executive Vice President and Vice President of Engagement including overseeing major events like the annual Black Bazaar and Thanksgiving. She has created and cultivated relationships with both students and administrators that resulted in impactful change throughout the campus community including the surrounding communities.
Dallas Harper, Board Member
Class of 2025
Dallas is a marine veteran and is a proud alumnus who obtained his Bachelor's of Science in Information Systems and Technology - Cybersecurity at CSUSB. He currently serves as a printer field technician that allows him to use his leadership skills to address challenges the community faces. During his service in the marine corps, it allowed him to advocate for others including but not limited to collaborating with other teams to find effective solutions.
Jamal Gerren, Board Member
Class of 2000
Jay is a proud alumnus who obtained his Bachelor's in Arts in Communication, with a concentration in Mass Communication, at CSUSB. He has previously hosted the Inland Empire Film Festival at the university and screened my documentary, Bar Daddy. His leadership skills allowed him to serve in mentoring and advisory roles with Black Student Union, which allowed students to gain experience in film and media. He has maintained relationships throughout the campus community that has allowed others to gain knowledge in film production. He is an active member of BADWest (Black Association of Documentary Filmmakers West) that promotes increased documentary filmmakers in Southern California throughout the African Diaspora.
Lessina Hampton, Public Relations/Board Member
Class of 2026
Lessina currently works in mainstream radio and her leadership roles in hospitality have provided her the extraordinary skills to manage teams, trained employees, coordinate operations, and communicate with diverse groups of people. She obtained her Bachelor's of Arts in Communication with a concentration in Media Studies at CSUSB. In addition, her experience in radio broadcasting, media production, and community engagement has helped me develop the ability to connect with audiences, share stories, and promote events and initiatives effectively. Through her volunteer work, including at NBC'S affiliate company KCAA, she has continuously built relationships and contributed her time and communication skills to support organizational goals.
Anthony Roberson, Board Member -- Staff Representative
Anthony serves as the Associate Director of Operations for the Santos Manuel Student Union. He is a dynamic student-centered student affairs professional with more than 15 years university and private industry experience in operations and facility management. Anthony is currently pursuing a degree in Career and Technical studies at CSUSB. He has also served as an advisor for the Student African American Brotherhood, an organization for males of color to achieve college success and enhance retention and graduation rates in college. Anthony is the President of the CSUSB Black Faculty, Staff, and Student Association; Anthony is chair of the Pioneer Breakfast is an annual CSUSB Black Faculty, Staff, and Student Association-sponsored event, which serves as a scholarship fundraiser for current CSUSB students. Roberson was instrumental in creating the Black Student Leadership Symposium for current African American high school students who aspire to go to college, which serves as a scholarship fundraiser for current CSUSB students. Roberson was instrumental in creating the Black Student Leadership Symposium for current African American high school students who inspire to attend college. Anthony is often referred to as the “Mayor” within the Black Campus Community and is a beckon of hope for many that cross his path.
