Financial Aid & Scholarships
The Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships at CSUSB provides students and their families with information about financial aid resources and facilitates funding in an accurate and timely manner to assist students in pursuing their educational goals.
Whether receiving our services and support via telephone or in-person, our mission is to ensure your financial aid experience supports you in completing your college degree or teacher certification within a reasonable time frame and with minimal loan indebtedness. While federal regulations do require that you and (if dependent) your parents contribute towards your college expenses, as professionals, we focus on your financial needs not covered by your expected family contribution(s) and also based on your meeting aid program eligibility requirements. We strive to maximize your financial aid awards with grants, scholarships, low-interest student loans with easy repayment terms, and other types of resources.

Student Development and Engagement
The Associated Students, Incorporated serves, empowers, and advocates on behalf of the students at California State University, San Bernardino, through the representation of student interests and needs, the inclusion of students in the decision-making process, the execution of premier events and services, and the provision of opportunities for students to be productive leaders of the campus community and beyond.
No matter the sport, CSUSB Athletics offers many examples of athletic excitement that will complement your academic experiences. For men's sports, our campus offers baseball, basketball, golf, and soccer. For women's sports, basketball, cross-country, soccer, softball, track and field, and volleyball. Coyotes for the win!
The CARE (Campus Assessment, Response and Education) Team reviews, assesses and responds to student issues that may present barriers to their personal and academic success, such as food and housing insecurity, emotional distress, health concerns, or other personal challenges. The role of the CARE Team is to provide a supportive resource for students, address student concerns, and maintain a safe campus environment.
Early Childhood Education Programs support students and families within the university and community at large by providing high-quality child care and hands-on learning experiences through developmentally appropriate practices, building relationships, and recognizing individual strengths and values.
DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING & RESIDENTIAL EDUCATION
The Department of Housing and Residential Education (DHRE) takes pride in providing services to students in a safe, well-maintained, inclusive residential community that supports student success through its academic, personal, and professional goals by fostering a healthy living and learning environment and opportunities for holistic growth and development.
STUDENT CONDUCT & ETHICAL DEVELOPMENT
The primary focus of the Student Conduct and Ethical Development Office is to administer the Student Conduct Code by educating students about their social and ethical responsibilities as members of the university community. The Office of Student Conduct and Development supports the core values of the CSUSB Division of Student Affairs: Student Success, Integrity, and Social Justice.
STUDENT LEADERSHIP & ENGAGEMENT
The Office of Student Leadership and Engagement (OSLE) supports an inclusive student life environment by offering social and co-curricular opportunities that foster student involvement and build affinity to California State University, San Bernardino. Our office is here to support students who want to expand their educational experience and leadership skills.
The Santos Manuel Student Union (SMSU) is a focal point of the campus where students, faculty, staff, administration, alumni, and guests can develop an enduring relationship with the campus. Serving as the campus social hub, the SMSU assists in the retention and development of students, while encouraging a deeper understanding and appreciation of cultural pluralism, gender equity, and ethnic diversity.
Health and Wellness
The Basic Needs Program supports students' well-being and basic needs by providing access to immediate food assistance, financial assistance, short term emergency housing, and connecting students with additional resources and support on campus and in the community.
COUNSELING & PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) supports the university mission of academic success and social justice through promoting the mental well-being of CSUSB students, the campus community, and the surrounding region. This is achieved through mental health counseling, advocacy, and outreach and consultation in a safe, supportive and culturally-informed environment.
The Recreation and Wellness Center supports student health and well-being through various opportunities for athletic expression and personal care, including a fully-equipped campus gym, adventure trips, aquatic center, intramural sports, relaxation spaces, and more.
The Student Health Center supports students' academic success by providing high quality accessible health and psychiatric care as well as health education and wellness services in a safe, confidential and compassionate environment.
Student Success and Educational Equity
The Black Scholar’s Program (BSP) aims to incorporate high-impact practices that promote academic support while increasing retention among at-promise students. They strive to provide a supportive learning environment that embodies principles used throughout the African Diaspora.
The CA College Corps is a first-of-its kind state service and career development program that provides students with financial support and professional experience while engaging in meaningful community action around education, climate, and food insecurity.
The California Student Opportunity and Access Program (Cal-SOAP) is instrumental in improving the flow of information about post-secondary education and financial aid while raising the achievement levels of low-income, elementary and secondary school students or geographic regions with documented low-eligibility or college participation rates, and who are first in their families to attend college.
The Career Center empowers students and recent alumni to develop a lifelong skill-set for an ever-changing labor market through exploration, programming, and experiential learning opportunities to meet their personal and professional goals.
COLLEGE ASSISTANCE MIGRANT PROGRAMS
The College Assistance Migrant Programs (CAMP) serves the diverse community of students from migrant farm-worker families by providing them with critical resources, guidance, and support.
EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY CENTER
The Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) is a federally funded grant program designed to assist eligible adults who would like to enroll as first-time college students or who are former students seeking re-enrollment. Their goal is to facilitate and guide students through the higher educational system by providing quality information, counseling, and other services free of charge.
EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY PROGRAM
The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) seeks to provide access to higher education for historically low-income, underrepresented, disadvantaged students who have the potential to succeed at the university level. EOP recruits, retains and graduates students by providing a comprehensive program of support services which include admission, academic advisement, career and personal counseling, tutoring, financial assistance and graduate school information.
The Educational Talent Search (ETS) is an educational program funded by the U.S. Department of Education designed to help middle and high school students to continue to the next grade level, graduate from high school, and enroll in and complete a college education. They create a pathway for underrepresented students to pursue higher education by encouraging academic excellence, providing support and resources, and promoting college readiness in local schools and communities.
First Star Academy provides a residential summer academy where students in foster care will receive academic support, enrichment, and encouragement to help prepare them for college. During the academy, students will participate in social and cultural activities, field trips, service learning, recreational activities, and attend academic courses for college
credit.
SERVICES TO STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES
The Services to Students with Disabilities (SSD) Office empowers students with disabilities by fostering skills of self-advocacy, resourcefulness, and independence. They work collaboratively with the campus community to remove barriers and promote an enriched learning environment where students with disabilities can utilize their skills and pursue their academic and personal development goals.
STUDENT ASSISTANCE IN LEARNING
The Student Assistance in Learning (SAIL) program serves students from low-income families, students whose parents have not earned a bachelor’s degree, and/or students with a learning or physical disability, with the goal of increasing the college retention and graduation rates of these students at the undergraduate level through academic support and advising services.
The Tutoring Center provides personal tutoring assistance to students in a variety of subjects in an effort to offer academic support and resources to the campus community.
UNDOCUMENTED STUDENT SUCCESS CENTER
The Undocumented Student Success Center (USSC) is dedicated to supporting students at both the San Bernardino and Palm Desert campuses in their educational journeys through financial, legal, and community support.
Upward Bound is a TRIO Program designed to help provide high school students with educational and personal support services that will increase high school graduation and college enrollment and persistence rates.
The Veterans Success Center supports former, current, and future service members of the United States Armed Forces and their dependents with the transition from higher education to career, navigation through their academic experience, and celebration of their service and achievements by offering high-quality support services, resources, and events.
Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a research-based method for helping students succeed in challenging courses by providing additional subject-matter discussion, support, and guidance for the strengthening of critical college skills. It is designed to help strengthen the understanding of the material presented in course lectures/texts, develop both general and content specific learning strategies and study skills, and review for exams by developing effective test taking strategies.
