Dropping a Class
Each session has a specified census date assigned which is the deadline (last day) for adding or dropping a course.
The last day to drop without permission [petition to drop after Census form] is the Census date.
To drop a course use the Drop Request form below prior to the census date.
Census Deadline
It is the student’s responsibility to verify their enrollment summary prior to the Census deadline as they will receive a grade for every course in which they are shown to be officially registered. It is also the student’s responsibility to drop by the Census deadline from any class(es) that they do not plan to attend and complete.
- Course drop requests received prior to the term/session start are eligible for a 100% refund less a $25 administrative fee.
- Course drop requests received after the course start date but before the census deadlines are eligible for a 65% refund less a $25 administrative fee.
- Course drop requests received after the census deadline are not eligible for a refund, and will require a Petition to Drop After Census form to be submitted.
To Petition to Drop After Census, the student will need to obtain approvals from the instructor of the course, the chair of the department of the course and the Dean from the college of the student's major. Courses dropped after the census deadline will be assigned a grade of "W".
Supporting documentation is always required and must be attached to the petition.
