MBA Admissions Requirements

Ready to begin your MBA journey? We have a two-step admission process:

Step 1 – Eligibility Process

The MBA Online for Professionals requires two years of work experience in a management or leadership role. That can be defined as overseeing staff, major programs, budgets, administrative accounts, data, equipment/facilities or resource management.  

Submit your résumé to find out if you’re eligible to apply:

  • A résumé should outline relevant work experience with the month and year for each position. Include specific job responsibilities describing your management or leadership experience.

Step 2 – Admissions Requirement

Applicants must meet these minimum criteria:

  1. Completed a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent course of study at a regionally accredited institution.
  2. Attained a minimum 3.0 GPA in the last 90 units of course work. (Applications with a GPA between 2.5 and 2.99 will be considered for conditional admission by the program and Dean of Graduate Studies.)
  3. Maintained good standing at the last college attended.

Required Supporting Documents

The following documents are required to complete your application within Cal State Apply:

  1. A 250-word Statement of Purpose, outlining your goals that an MBA will help you achieve, and that demonstrates your commitment to furthering your education.
  2. One letter of recommendation from a managers/supervisor or colleague familiar with your work history
  3. Transcripts must be submitted for ALL previous academic work attempted and proof of your Bachelor degree. (CSUSB alumni do not need to submit CSUSB transcripts). If admitted into the program, all official transcripts must be submitted and in their original sealed envelope (not tampered with) OR electronically, within the student's first term.
    1. Electronic submissions (sent directly from the institution) can be emailed to gradadmissions@csusb.edu. Hand delivered or posted docuemtns should be directed to the address below
  4. Current resume

MBA Candidate Interview

An interview with an MBA office representative is required. Staff will contact applicants to schedule the interview after the application is submitted.
